Tapes found
languishing amongst a pile of mastertapes at the legendary Earphone Records of
New Jersey were released as the
album and captured the
monumental funky organ groove of the New Jersey Kings. Previous to that
discovery it had been assumed that all that existed of their work was a couple
of 7" singles -
and
. Then all was silence. The band probably
disappeared off to work as plumbers, refuse collectors or for all we know brain
surgeons. Those tapes were therefore an exciting find; bumping bass, underlayed
by some tough conga ingenuity and funky drums all topped by the most screaming
organ.
